Cargo Train

By AJ Lindsey

settle down just a little longer and lay your head on my chest

take some time to realign don’t worry about what’s next

you have traveled a hundred miles just to spend the night in your car

you can run away and chase the wind always searching for some rest

but a cargo train goes only to a shipyard

and a boat can only take you overseas

when you try to run from your emotion

the prison is your memory

staying downtown but feeling like you’re just floating up in the air

blown around like a lost balloon just to feel the wind in your hair

you can hop a board and open every door can’t

find what you’ve been looking for

brand new faces and stranger places won’t lead to your back porch

cause a cargo train goes only to a shipyard

and a boat can only take you overseas

when you try to run from your emotion

the prison is your memory

so lay your head on my chest

cry those tears on my shoulder

come back home and take a chance

before the prison walls get colder
